# Inspect the filing sources

Use these materials with Reading 1-5 and Lecture 5. The complete reports and
data files were retrieved from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on
September 10, 2026. The table extracts and policy summaries below help you work
without searching the entire report. They are selected teaching material, not
complete financial statements.

For independent navigation practice, begin with a full report. Use an extract
when you need a hint or cannot open the report. If you use the extract, describe
your work as interpreting supplied evidence rather than independently finding it.

The data files use eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). They store
reported facts with units and dates so software can read them. Use the report
when you need the surrounding explanation.

|---|---:|---:|
| Inventories | 5,718 | 7,286 |
| Accounts payable | 69,860 | 68,960 |

**Policy summary in our words.** Note 1, Summary of Significant Accounting
Policies, under Inventories, identifies the first-in, first-out method.
The summary does not replace the surrounding policy or other inventory disclosures.

**Income-statement extract.** Item 8, Consolidated Statements of Operations.
US dollars in millions; activity for the years ended on the dates shown.

| Selected row | Year ended September 27, 2025 | Year ended September 28, 2024 |
|---|---:|---:|
| Total net sales | 416,161 | 391,035 |

**Policy summary in our words.** Note 2, Revenue, connects recognition to the
transfer of control to the customer. Total net sales includes Products and
Services. For most Products net sales, control transfers when Apple ships the
product. For Services net sales, control transfers over time as services are
delivered. The product-shipment policy does not describe the timing of the
entire total. Read the complete note for other qualifications.

## Microsoft: receivables and allowances

Microsoft Corporation's Form 10-K was filed July 30, 2025, for June 30, 2025.
Its accession number is 0000950170-25-100235. The financial statements cover
Microsoft Corporation and its subsidiaries.

**Balance-sheet extract.** Consolidated Balance Sheets. US dollars in millions;
balances at June 30. The row label states that the allowance for doubtful
accounts has already been deducted.

| Selected row | 2025 | 2024 |
|---|---:|---:|
| Accounts receivable, net | 69,905 | 56,924 |
| Allowance identified in the row label | 944 | 830 |

The allowance amounts are part of the row label, not separate balance-sheet
lines. The filing does not present gross current accounts receivable in this
row.

**Allowance summary in our words.** Note 1, Accounting Policies, under Contract
Balances and Other Receivables, describes the allowance as Microsoft's best
estimate of credit losses. The estimate considers known troubled accounts,
historical experience, and other currently available evidence. An estimate is
not proof of the amount that the company will ultimately fail to collect.

**Long-term receivables summary.** The same Note 1 section reports long-term
accounts receivable, net, of $5.2 billion at June 30, 2025 and $4.9 billion at
June 30, 2024. Microsoft includes those balances in other long-term assets. The
note uses billions, while the balance sheet above uses millions.

## Use the copies and summaries

The HTML and XML downloads preserve the retrieved files. HTML is the report
format a browser displays. XML stores structured data; the XBRL instance
contains facts with their units and date contexts. You do not need to read XML
to complete the core lesson.

The tables reproduce selected reported values and headings. The policy
paragraphs are teaching summaries written for this course, not quotations from
an accounting standard. Consult the full reports for omitted disclosures.
Company copyright remains with the reporting company; the course does not
claim ownership of its report.

location with any extract you copy into your work.
