Transfer accounting begins with the transferred financial assets and the control conditions, not with the journal entry management prefers. A sale conclusion changes derecognition and gain/loss questions; a failed sale remains a secured borrowing. Continuing involvement, recourse, servicing, retained interests, restrictions, and disclosure remain visible in either analysis.
