Sections 1.3.5.1 and 1.3.5.6 distinguish measures of location and spread and make their sensitivity to tail behavior visible. Section 1.3.5.17 treats an unusual observation as an investigation problem: it may be erroneous, may reflect ordinary variation, or may carry information that the model misses.

Section 1.3.5.2 supplies the bounded one-sample Student-t interval used here and gives its repeated-sampling interpretation. The curriculum independently computes original fictional examples and requires the sample design, degrees of freedom, critical value, assumptions, and interpretation boundary to remain visible.
