What EDGAR does

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) page introduces EDGAR, the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system. Companies and other filers use it to submit documents under federal securities laws. Investors can use those documents to study a company.

Limits of this source

The agency describes the system here. It does not establish that the information in a particular filing is correct.

The page includes rounded volume estimates without a measurement period. The R1 and R2 scripts omit them because system traffic does not help students find or interpret the inventory amount. Use the linked historical overview for dated changes to electronic filing.
