Choose a report for your question

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) guide explains how to find company reports in EDGAR, the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system. A company name or stock symbol starts the search. The form code helps identify the kind of report.

Form What the guide says it contains
10-K Annual financial statements with an auditor's opinion and management's discussion.
10-Q Unaudited quarterly financial statements.
8-K Important events or information the company must or chooses to report.

Form 8-K is a current report; it is not a periodic report on a fixed schedule. A form ending in /A is an amendment. Read it to see what changed.

Use the guide within its limits

The page was last reviewed on September 5, 2018. It explains report types, but its navigation directions need a fresh browser check. The current search and example filing are linked in the search record. An annual report contains audited statements; an audit opinion does not cover every sentence in the report.
