Pension disclosure rollforward requires a named plan, population, date, and evidence owner. The disclosure rollforward projects controlled obligation, asset, cost, OCI, AOCI, assumption, expected cash-flow, and special-event schedules into the annual note.

Apply it

A note reporting $3.85 million underfunding should let a reader trace the $20 million PBO, $16.15 million assets, $1.4 million cost, $650,000 OCI loss, and their movements.

Common mistake

Do not assume that a pension note may plug its ending balances to the general ledger. The note must reconcile obligation, plan assets, funded status, cost, OCI/AOCI, cash flows, assumptions, and events to controlled sources. That error would publish internally inconsistent obligation, asset, cost, cash, and funded-status amounts.

Keep the boundary clear

A legacy checklist can contain removed requirements or miss current ones. Match the checklist to entity type, period, adopted amendments, and current Codification.

Authority

Read ASC 715-20-50-1 for annual pension disclosure requirements.
